Regulating the Siting & Construction of
Towers & Wireless Telecommunications Facilities



Is this an issue that you should address?


There have been more than 150,000 facilities erected in the last 5 years and industry estimates are that more than 1 million more will be needed in the next few years. Are you prepared to deal with this issue?
  • If you think the siting and construction of Wireless Communications Towers is not an issue, we suggest you ask your constituents about their feelings.
  • As many as 50% of the towers erected in the last 5 years don't need to exist
  • An even greater percentage don't need to be as tall as they are
  • Many wireless facilities, including towers, don't need to be recognizable as such
  • You can control the number, location, height and appearance of towers and other wireless telecommunications facilities in your community . . . without slowing the deployment of wireless service in your community ?
  • The FCC has licensed 9 Wireless Service Providers in every community in the nation, each of whom will need multiple facilities in almost every community, except the very smallest. The latest news from the industry (with the advent of 2.5 and 3.0 generation technology) is that the industry will need between 4 and 16 times as many sites as previously estimated, depending upon the type of service, e.g. cellular versus PCS.


Questions to Ask

  • If you learned that you could truly control the issue(s) would you want to?
  • Is this something that your in-house staff knows how to do or particularly wants to do?
  • What if your staff never again had to spend any substantive amount of time on the issue?
  • What if you never again had to deal with the issue (other than to establish policy vis-a-vis adopting effective regulations that put your community in control), and could have it handled by one of the pre-eminent groups of experts in the nation (that exclusively represent communities)?
  • What if you learned that you could do all of this. . . and it would cost your community nothing? (This is not a 'come on' with costs later to be disclosed. We've done it for more than 700 communities in
    33 states and the National Park Service.)

Would you then be interested in doing something truly meaningful that places you in virtually total control of the issue without costing you anything, and that has been proven to actually facilitate the deployment of service?
